UniFiji Academic-Industry Collaboration Dinner

The University of Fiji hosted its Academic-Industry Collaboration Dinner on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Tanoa Waterfront Hotel, Lautoka.

Initiated by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Prem Misir, the collaboration dinner signifies the importance of the relationship between industries and academics. The collaboration strengthens University’s role to create work-ready graduates and enhances industry-based research.

The dinner hosted many industry, Government and Non-Governmental representatives.

Speaking at the dinner, the Guest Speaker from the corporate sector, Ms. Rajneesh Charan, the General Manager Information Systems of Fiji Sugar Corporation, spoke on the importance of practical application of classroom theory to work life.

While another Guest Speaker from the corporate sector, Mr. Richard Donaldson, the Human Resources Manager of Air Terminal Services, said that the academic-industry partnership the capacity and efficiency of the organisations.

Professor Misir in his welcome note, stated that The University of Fiji is a global University and reliance on industry collaborations will further its vision for a knowledge-based society.

The University looks forward to host more collaboration dinners in the near future.
