UniFiji and FNU organized in collaboration the first Writers Group activities in the West at Trans- International hotel on Saturday 21 August. Writing Workshops on fiction, poetry, and translation were given by a number of writers and academics, including Professors Subramani, Sudesh Mishra, and Ms Rejieli Racule. Among the readers and workshop participants was the distinguished visiting novelist from Malaysia Professor KS Maniam.

A number of students and staff from Unifiji participated in the workshops, including Professors Ken Nobin and Professor Satendra Nandan. UniFiji Students Association contributed generously for this meeting with presence of the President Mr Vijay Singh, Zion Navin, Aminiasi Turuva, Kasanita Nayasi, among others. The function began at 2 pm and lasted until 9 pm. UniFiji expresses its warm thanks to the writers and the hospitality of Tran-international Hotel. The next such occasion will be held in October, around Fiji Day.
