Fail Grades
D - Work below the standard for a pass.
E - Very weak performance or failure to complete to the satisfaction of the examiner such practical, field or such other prescribed work.
X - The letter ‘X' when used together with a fail grade for a course indicates that a candidate did not sit the final examination in that course.
DP - This is awarded dishonest practice.
U - Unsatisfactory.
Fail - Not competent

Candidates are awarded an Aegrotat Pass or Compassionate Pass if they satisfy the conditions prescribed.

Candidates are awarded a Restricted Pass if they satisfy the conditions prescribed . Candidates are awarded ‘I' (or incomplete results) if they are given an extension of time by the Academic Committee to complete any work on which the course assessment is based. The time may be extended only up to the last day of lectures of the following semester. The grade of ‘I' shall be replaced by an appropriate grade based on the work submitted by the student at the end of the extended period.

The grades awarded to the students are based on their performance during the semester coursework and examination. The coursework shall constitute not less than 40% and not more than 60%. Variations in the ratios shall be permitted by the senate.
