Double Degree with Bachelor of Laws

The double degree with Bachelor of Law will be applicable with the following disciplines:

  1. Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts
  2. Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce
    • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) & Bachelor of Laws; or
    • Bachelor of Commerce (Management) & Bachelor of Laws; or
    • Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) & Bachelor of Laws.

Admission Criteria

For Admission to the combined  Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degree, the LLB admission requirements will apply. A person should:

  1. have passed a Senate-recognised Form 7 examination or equivalent examination and have 60% or equivalent in English in that examination; or
  2. meet the mature student admission criteria.

Programme Requirements

The Bachelor of Commerce (ACC, MGT and ECO)  and Bachelor of Laws, consists of 40 courses, of which 11 courses are towards the BA or BCom component, and 29 courses are towards the LLB component.

The BCom (ACC, MGT and ECO) component has either:

  1. a single major structure conforming to the BCom (ACC, MGT and ECO) requirements for a single major in one of the allowed disciplines; and
  2. elective courses from those allowed for the Bachelor of Commerce (ACC, MGT and ECO) degree to make up the total of 14 for the BA or BCom component; or
  3. a double major structure conforming to the BCom (ACC, MGT and ECO) double major requirements for majors in each of two of the allowed disciplines; and
  4. elective courses from those allowed for a Bachelor of Commerce degree to make up the total of 11 for the BCom component.

Courses for the Bachelor of Law

The LLB component has:  29 compulsory LAW courses of the LLB.

Students must complete all 100 level LAW courses with a GPA of at least 2.5 in respect to these first year Law units (LAW101, LAW102, LAW103, LAW104) before being able to progress to any second year Law units.

Courses in the above disciplines fulfilling the requirements for either a single major in one of the above disciplines plus sufficient elective courses to make up a total of 11, or for double majors in two of the above disciplines, plus sufficient elective courses to make up a total of 11.

Students wishing to peruse double major law can choose any second major (BA or BCom 10 courses and complete the program with 29 LLB compulsory courses. The second major can be any University program except Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Education.
