Sixty students from Baulevu Secondary School in Nausori visited the Saweni campus on August 19. They were accompanied by teachers and this was part of their field trip to the Western region. The students were formally welcomed and were given a brief introduction to the University and its programmes. Staff of the Marketing department organised a campus tour for the students. The students had an opportunity to visit lecture rooms, canteens, computer labs and other amenities. They also toured the Umanand Prasad School of Medicine and were extremely impressed with the medical equipment and facilities available at the medical school. A few of them were quite intrigued by the anatomy models and other displays at UPSM. After the tour, the students were given an information session by the academic staff of various departments.
The information session also entailed a brief question and answer session. Students were given information such as programmes offered in each department, entry requirements, programme structure and other details pertaining to the academic programmes on offer at the University. The students were impressed with the hospitality and the ‘open door’ policy that the University has. At the end of the information session, they were treated to scrumptious afternoon tea.
